Career Paths
Jane Street offers four main career paths, any of which can be pursued in New York, London, or Tokyo.
Accounting and Operations
The group works extensively with the trading and technology areas to make sure every trade counts, navigating stock transfers, corporate actions, and profit and loss activity around the world.
Information Technology and Networking
The group builds and maintains the firm's technological nervous system. Group members keep our networks fast and robust, manage counterparty connectivity, and provide the glue to hold together the firm's far-flung activities.
Trading
Traders work in teams to seek out and take advantage of pricing inefficiencies, develop models, manage risk, investigate new products, and push into new business areas. Experienced traders mentor newer colleagues, whose responsibilities increase with their capability.
Quantitative Research and Software Development
These two areas are intimately connected at Jane Street and function as a single group. Quants sit alongside and work intensively with traders, exploring trading ideas, building mathematical models, writing trading software, and augmenting core firm infrastructure in the OCaml programming language.
